Senior Infrastructure Design Engineer 

Location: Tyne & Wear

Salary: £Competitive

Education & Qualifications • Minimum BSc / BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering • Recently Chartered / near chartered Training / Capabilities • Candidates must be highly competent in the use of the following o AutoCAD o MircoDrainage / WinDes software. • It is considered essential that candidates have experience in the use of the following: o CDM Regulations o Sewers for adoption o Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) o Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides o Contracts and Commercial matters, including preparation of Contract Documentation to NEC forms of contract, production of bill of quantities and specifications o British Standards and Eurocode manuals o MS Office - Word and Excel specifically • Experience in the use of Civil 3D or PDS or MX would be a significant advantage • It is considered an advantage if candidates have experience in the use of the following: o AutoTrack o Production of programmes would be an advantage, including the use of MS Project would be an advantage Experience • Ideally candidate will be experienced in commercial, residential, industrial, health, maritime, projects. • Experience with stakeholder management, being responsible for maintaining and building good relationships with a variety of clients. Must therefore be familiar and comfortable working for / with public and private individuals and organisations including public bodies, private land owners, developers, Contractors (including D&B Contractors), project managers and the like. • Candidate will be experienced in design of drainage and external works, taking designs from concept through to detailed design for construction. Ability to identify drainage constraints at the concept / feasibility stage and developing drainage and highway schemes for adoption, through the design, tender and construction stages. This will include dealing with site queries and undertaking site supervision of construction works that will involve sign off / approvals. • Design of on-plot, foul and storm water drainage • Experienced in report writing • Experience in the preparation of planning applications and discharge of planning conditions • Must have experience dealing with legal agreements between local councils (S38 & S278), local water authorities (S104 & S106), Environmental Agency and the like in building-over agreements, utility connections, abandonment, diversions etc. • Experience of SuDS systems to reduce flood risk and manage the discharge rates from developments would be an advantage. • Ideally the candidate will be able to undertake swept path analysis and also in conjunction with our transport planners, development of signage and road marking schemes for Client and other approvals. • Should ideally have experience working within a multi-disciplinary team(s) and in the modelling of bulk and detailed earthworks, estate roads & drainage and surfaces for use within hydraulic models including for flood risk assessment. • Procurement and management of onsite works including topographical and CCTV surveys. Candidate will be experienced in the interpretation of the findings from such surveys and incorporation into design proposals Additional • Full, clean driving licence • Confined spaces entry training would be an advantage. • CSCS card holder. • Hard-working, ability to work as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills and an orientation to working with established management systems, but willing to make positive contributions to continual improvement • Eager to take new opportunities and develop the team • Conscientious, disciplined, organised, problem solver, quick learner that can think laterally and that enjoys learning new skills • Perform well under pressure and work well, to programmes, without supervision and as well as part of a wider team.
