Senior Geotechnical Engineer 

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £30,000 - 40,000

A bright, keen and enthusiastic senior engineer/project manager with a proven ability and a positive outlook and attitude is sought for our Glasgow office to join a rapidly growing geoenvironmental team within a strong multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. The ideal candidate would have a good first degree in geology, earth sciences, civil engineering or similar and preferably a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics or similar). You should ideally have experience in site investigation design specification, organisation and supervision with a full range of investigation techniques and in-situ sampling and testing methods to reflect the site and ground conditions. You should be able to undertake detailed scheduling of geotechnical laboratory testing of both soils and rock to obtain the parameters required for geotechnical design. Ideally, you should be able to undertake basic chemical laboratory testing of soils and waters for contamination screening purposes. An ability to log soils and rock to BS5930:1999 and BS EN 14688:2002 is essential. You will be expected to be have a proven ability of the management and co-ordination of junior staff and technical and commercial aspects of all projects. You should have proven experience in preparing desk top studies, coal mining risk assessments, factual and interpretive ground investigation reports, slope stability assessments and earthworks specifications and validation reports, mining consolidation specifications and validation reports. You will also be expected to provide detailed recommendations on foundation solutions, ground engineering options, bearing capacities, settlement calculations and slope stability analysis. You will be expected to have experience of working with bespoke geotechnical analysis software, e.g. Slide, Slope W, Oasys, Plaxis etc..
